Information Security Officer

Information Security Officer

With the rapid development of technological products, everyone now has a smartphone or tablet computer in hand. However, technological development could also mean that personal information is easily stolen. Think about it—with personal information stolen and financial information and even private photos successively made public, it would be enough to destroy one’s reputation or personal life. The nude picture scandal is a good example.

On the other hand, if the stolen information is not personal information but trade secrets, the scope of impact will no longer be as simple as merely on oneself. It will escalate to a commercial crime level, with the worst case scenario being business failure and loss of job. Therefore, most enterprises have established a dedicated information security department, which will allow professional information security officers to protect their vital data and prevent hackers from invading, as well as carry out system maintenance and upgrade at any time.

Even when the internal system features impeccable security, information leakage is sometimes inevitable due to the carelessness of employees. Likewise, the result would be the same if an employee unknowingly uses a hacked mobile phone or tablet to send and receive company emails or log into the company's internal system. Therefore, information security officers also need to lay down a guideline for the use of mobile phones and teach employees how to encrypt their mobile phones.

However, as mentioned above, technology is constantly changing, and hackers will also continue to improve their techniques each time security is elevated. Information security officers must keep up with the latest knowledge and continuously learn, in a bid to successfully fight off hackers.
