Arts Criticism Recognition Programme 2024 - Tertiary Students

To encourage young individuals to actively participate in arts activities and to cultivate their involvement in arts criticism, Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) is currently launching the "Arts Criticism Recognition Programme 2024 - Tertiary Students". This initiative aims to encourage tertiary students to produce arts critiques in writing or video form, which can be shared with the public to enhance the understanding and analysis of works of arts by the community and the sector. Local tertiary students who enjoy appreciating arts or who would like to become arts critics are welcome to participate. High quality arts critiques would be selected for recognition and reward.

Participants must be tertiary students (including masters and doctoral students) who are permanent residents of Hong Kong. They are free to choose public programmes or works from the five art forms: visual arts, literature, film, music, and theatre. They must submit a written review of 1,500 to 3,000 words, or a video review of a maximum 15 minutes in length by 29 August, 2024. Submission can be in either Chinese or English. Eligible submissions will be judged by a designated panel of examiners appointed by the HKADC.

A total of five prizes will be given to each of the five art forms mentioned. The top five winners in each art form will receive cash prizes of HK$5,000, HK$4,000, HK$3,000, HK$2,000, and HK$1,000 respectively as encouragement. The winning art critiques will be published on the Instagram account of this programme, @talk.hkarts. HKADC will also promote them to newspapers and media to explore further development opportunities.
