The force of conviction (Ying-hing Ong) 11/09/2008

I am increasingly convinced that success and failure have nothing to do with fate.

This world is never an objective one. The world you see with your eyes, all the grass and trees, all the scenes and things, and even the intangible order and norms, you understand them all through your body. And how objective is that? So it is important to know that the world as you know it is created with your will and conviction. But there is nothing egocentric about it at all, and it is a truth easy to understand.

When we feel down or worried, we actually release negative energy. Frustrations breed more frustrations, and our worries, as expected, would have a way of becoming reality one after another. Haven't we all had this similar experience before? We tend to be pretty good at predicting mishaps. The reason is simply that all misfortunes are our own doing.

So if you want to change your fate, you must start with changing from the inside. Try to worry less and concentrate on things that are positive and rosy. You think it is an easy thing to do? But for someone who has a cynical way of putting things, and can't help moaning and groaning or being nit-picking, it would be the same as changing the operating system of a computer from MS Windows to Mac OS. It would be like turning the person upside down and border on the impossible.
