If I could pick one out of the four seasons to be lovelorn, I would pick autumn.
In spring, the mugginess would make you feel a little sad for no reason.
The scorching hot summer would make you feel particularly reckless.
The short days and long nights, plus a concentration of major festivals in winter would easily make you feel blue.
Only in autumn, when the air is unusually crisp and sweet, would you be able to calm your nerves right away just by taking a deep breath. You would not shed more tears than you would during the plum rain season, or get scorched by the sun while you are brooding. Nor would you be constantly reminded of how lonely you are by Christmas, New Year, Valentine’s Day and the other festivals in winter. There will only be Halloween, which is not really a festival, to poke fun at you. And it would dawn on you that at least you have your family to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with you.:P
And, what is more, in autumn, my skin would be in such a good condition that all pimples or dry lines will be gone. With a face feeling silky smooth all day, it would be hard for me to fall into a foul mood.
So, if I could choose, please leave me in autumn. … But it is just wishful thinking. If I could even choose that, would I be lovelorn at all?
