Secondary 5 Students
The Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) is an important part of secondary school education. Every student should give their best efforts to this examination. Amongst all the reference books for the examination, Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority publications should be useful to you. There are subject examination reports and question papers covering various aspects of the examination, including the objectives, content and format of the examination, question papers, marking schemes, and examiners' comments on candidates' performance in the examination. You can order your copy online.

After the release of the results of the HKCEE, you have to decide in which direction you should move. Whether you choose to continue your education, repeat secondary 5, take on self-study or study abroad, you should make your choice according to your interests, talent and abilities. If you decide to apply for secondary 6, you must have a clear understanding of secondary 6 admission procedures. As for choosing a school that suits you, you can search day schools with secondary 6 classes in each district, according to your scored points. Then you should view the details of the schools from the school lists by districts and the school profiles, which will help you choose your school according to each school’s specialty.

There are other choices for secondary 5 graduates besides going for secondary 6. Career guidance for secondary 5 graduates will give you recommendations on continuing education, vocational training, career choice and progression path. Career education is a core component of every school. You can seek assistance from your teachers of your school’s careers team and the guidance team about your career development.

There is also the Project Yi Jin [Chinese version only] which provides an alternative route to secondary school leavers or adults over 21 years of age to pursue further education. The programme upgrades students’ knowledge in biliteracy, trilingualism, and information technology application through combining academic pursuits with practical skills training. Successful completion of the programme will lead to a qualification comparable to five passes in the HKCEE, and qualifies you to apply for professional courses in further education or to apply for civil service posts.

The Yi Jin/Secondary Schools Collaboration Project [Chinese version only] also provides the same Yi Jin programme for students who have completed Secondary 4, or who are aged below 21 and have never sat for the HKCEE.

Matriculate Students
As a matriculate student, you have to face issues on your education path and career matters as well as the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE). Reference books are your essential tools to prepare for the examination. Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority publications should be useful to you. There are subject examination reports and question papers covering various aspects of the examination, including the objectives, content and format of the examination, question papers, marking schemes, and examiners' comments on candidates' performance in the examination. You can order your copy online.

Career guidance for secondary 7 graduates provides tips for further studies, career and prospect matters. It can help you get ready for the next step. You can apply through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) for admission to bachelor’s degree programmes and selected associate degree / higher diploma programmes offered by its participating institutions. All applications will be submitted online and it is easy to get yourself acquainted with the application procedures.

Besides University Grants Committee (UGC) funded institutions, there are many full-time self-financing post-secondary programmes available. These full-time self-financing post-secondary programmes at sub-degree levels (Associate Degree or Higher Diploma) or above, all meet the Government's quality requirements and are run by different education institutions.
