To Senior Inspector Ip Ching-man, currently Duty Officer at Police Headquarters, her most unforgettable experience on the job so far is the building collapse incident in To Kwa Wan. To deal with the emergency situation, she had to mobilise a large number of police officers at short notice and coordinate with various departments. This helped her realise the meaning and importance of police work. She first came to set her mind to becoming a police officer through a mentorship programme in her second year at university. Subsequently, after undergoing a series of challenges, with the extended interview being the most gruelling to her, and the 36-week post-recruitment training, she became a Probationary Inspector. She said that the work of a police inspector is diversified. From being a sub-unit commander, a police inspector would gradually get the chance to be assigned to the Criminal Investigation Department, Commercial Crime Bureau, Special Duties Unit or Security Wing. Promotion prospects include Senior Inspector of Police, Chief Inspector of Police, Superintendent of Police, or even higher positions. In closing, she said she has never looked back since becoming a Police Inspector because her work is both challenging and satisfying.
