Grantham Visual Arts Award 2018-19
The aim of this award is to recognize the abilities and achievements of members of the youth in Visual Arts so as to build a platform for the presentation and exchange of ideas. Through this initiative, we can spread awareness among the general public regarding the positive impacts Visual Arts have in schools.
‧ Students studying in secondary schools in Hong Kong are eligible to apply.
‧ The application will be divided into 2 groups: The Junior Group (Form 1 to Form 3 students) and the Senior Group (Form 4 to Form 6 students).
‧ There will be a total of 20 quotas, with around 10 quotas in each group. The exact number of quotas per group depends on the quality of the performance and art portfolios of the nominees in different art activities. The final decision will be made by the professional judging panel.
‧ Students receiving this award in previous years are not eligible to apply for the same nomination group again.
1. Nomination by the school
※ All students applying for this award must be nominated by the school principal or school teacher. ※ Each school can nominate 1 student each for both the Junior Group and the Senior Group (totaling 2 students).
※ The nominator must fill in the Nomination Form and provide reasons for nominating the student (Less than 500 words).
2. Submission of nominees’ personal information and art portfolios
※ All nominees must provide their personal information, a list of received Visual Arts awards, participated events, and artrelated services both inside and outside school (if applicable).
※ All nominees must write a statement regarding his or her view regarding the significance of creating art (Less than 300 words).
※ All nominees must submit images and description of 6 to 8 pieces of artwork using at least 2 different medium. The title, medium, dimensions and date of creation of each artwork is also required.
※ Image format: JPG, 300dpi, 3MB or below for each image, the file name please follow the below format: No. of work. Title (Media, CM X CM). E.g. 1. Sunshine (Acrylic, 100X100);
※ Artwork submitted must have been completed within the past 3 years, for those artworks which have been submitted to other competitions before can also submit for this award selection. Students have to fill in the application form with artworks’ details and their artworks have to be ready for judging panel’s review and exhibition;
※ All the submitted artworks have to be created by INDIVIDUALS. Group works are not eligible for selection of this award, including Murals, School decoration or theatre set design, etc.;
※ Portfolio submitted by nominee, who has received this award before, must not include artwork from their previous art portfolio.
