Course summary

This area of Concentration Studies aims to provide students with nutrition knowledge in relation to food products and disease prevention. Students are introduced to marketing strategies in health food management. Students are also equipped with techniques in handling, analysing, and solving customers’ complaints in food service and health food sectors. Distinctive features include:

  • Identifing the nutrition theories and concepts in food service and health food sectors.
  • Discussing the principles in organising promotions and initiatives regarding food and nutrition services.
  • Unique exposure to real-life professional work environments through internship programmes; close partnership and networking with food companies and NGOs.
Entry Requirement

Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE)

Applicants must attain Level 2 or above in five subjects *, including Chinese Language # and English Language, in HKDSE Examination.

* A maximum of two Applied Learning subjects can be used for admission purposes:

(i) "Attained" in an Applied Learning subject is deemed to have achieved "Level 2"; and

(ii) "Attained with Distinction" in an Applied Learning subject is deemed to have achieved "Level 3".

# For Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) DSE candidates, the following alternative Chinese language qualifications are recognized by the College as equivalent to HKDSE Chinese Language:

(i) GCE A/AS Level Chinese; or

(ii) GCSE/IGCSE/GCE O-Level Chinese.

Yi Jin Diploma

Applicants must attain an overall pass for each of the five core subjects and each of the three elective subjects in Yi Jin Diploma; and be awarded Yi Jin Diploma.

Pre-Associate Degree / Associate Degree Foundation Programme

Applicants must obtain a graduation certificate of Pre-Associate Degree / Associate Degree Foundation Programme from any recognized Hong Kong institutions.

Hong Kong A-Level (HKAL)

Applicants must attain 1 pass in A-Level subject or 2 passes in AS-Level subjects, and 3 passes in HKCEE plus Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language.

Other Equivalent Qualifications

Other equivalent qualifications shall be considered by the College. They include, inter alia, the following:

i. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma;

ii. General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE-AL);

iii. Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT); and

iv. Relevant qualifications recognized under Qualifications Framework Level 3.

Mature Applicants

Applicants who have reached 21 or above on 1 September in the admission year with relevant qualifications and showing competence and experience in the chosen area of concentration studies will be considered.
