The programme provides working adults and in-service apprentices with craft knowledge and practical training in plumbing and pipefitting. Areas being covers include Plumbing Practice, Plumbing Drawing, Potable & Flush Water Supplies, Fire Services & Gas Installation, Building Construction, Hot Water Supply, Introduction to Information Technology, Plumbing Measurement, Plumbing Science, Plumbing Mathematics, Drainage Systems, Construction Drawing and Pipe Work installation, etc.
This programme is approved by the Hong Kong Water Supplies Department as a pre-requisite for recognition as a Licensed Plumber.
Graduates could be employed in construction sites or renovation companies as craftsmen in plumbing and pipefitting. They could also attend short courses to help them acquire plumbers' licences recognized by the Water Supplies Department. Pursuant to the Water Supply Ordinance, all plumbing installation (except some minor works) must be undertaken by Licensed Plumbers. As there is a great demand for qualified plumbers in the construction industry, this programme provides a good career prospect for our graduates.
Completion of Secondary 3 OR Equivalent
Normally to be completed in 3 to 4 years with 1 day + 1 to 2 evenings per week.
Students are normally required to study 1005 curriculum hours.
Holders of Basic Craft Certificate (BCC) in relevant stream or Equivalent
Normally to be completed in 2 to 3 years with 1 day + 1 to 2 evenings per week.
Students are normally required to study 660 curriculum hours.
Applicants with higher qualifications, holders of BCC in other streams or those who possess relevant work experience may apply for study exemption for some of the modules.
The actual curriculum hours may be slightly different from the normal curriculum hours due to the electives chosen.
