Physiotherapists

Physiotherapists

As Hong Kong people are always preoccupied with their gruelling schedule, many of them suffer from serious strains in their shoulders and necks. Thus, they like doing some massages in their spare time to relax themselves. Nevertheless, people need to seek help from physiotherapists because some serious strains cannot be relieved simply by massages. In recent years, people are always found to be glued onto their smartphone on streets at any time. This is why a growing number of citizens seek help from physiotherapists as the habit of lowering their head frequently will bring more pressures for cervical vertebra.

Generally, physiotherapists mainly help relieve pains of patients and help them correct any incorrect posture. Actually, physiotherapists can also be divided into several categories, namely sports, pediatrics, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, and brain to cater for the needs of different patients. For instance, the sports department is designed for people injured from sports; the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation department for patients with a cardiac surgery; and the brain department for patients with a stroke or Parkinson's disease to attend rehabilitation.

Given the ever-changing technologies nowadays, physiotherapists need to engage in advanced studies to master more techniques to help patients improve health after graduation. Some physiotherapists said within 14 years of practice in this sector, 10 years have been spent on in-service training. They have to set themselves the example for others, such as maintaining good sports habits and healthy physical conditions, so that patients will have faith in being treated by them.
