DSE Way out: Diploma Yi Jin

The academic qualification is equivalent to five subjects achieving level 2 in the DSE
The Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications has assessed and confirmed that for students who have successfully completed the Diploma Yi Jin (DYJ) Programme, the qualification thus obtained is deemed comparable to the attainment of Level 2 standard in five subjects including Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination. For students who have successfully completed the Maths Plus elective course, the qualification acquired under the Programme is comparable to the attainment of Level 2 standard in five subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics in the HKDSE Examination.

Overview of the Programme
The Programme appreciates the importance of proactive and interactive learning. Hence, apart from classroom teaching, other learning activities such as field trips and visits are arranged for some of the elective courses. Except for the English Language course, the medium of instruction is Cantonese and the course materials are mainly in Chinese. For some elective courses, English is used for course materials as well as assessment. Some other elective courses are offered with both Chinese and English streams and students choosing either stream will be taught and assessed in the chosen language.

Institutions Offering the programme
The DYJ programme is run by the following member institutions of the Federation for Self-financing Tertiary Education (FSTE): Lingnan Institute of Further Education; Hong Kong College of Technology; School of Continuing Education, Hong Kong Baptist University; Caritas Institute of Community Education; Hong Kong Institute of Technology; School of Business and Information Systems, Vocational Training Council; The Open University of Hong Kong, Li Ka Shing School of Professional and Continuing Education.

Tuition Fee and Financial Assistance Arrangement
Both full-time and part-time eligible DYJ students will receive reimbursement of 30% of the tuition fees paid for each satisfactorily completed course, subject to their having attained an overall pass in the course and achieved 80% attendance or above for the course as confirmed by the institutions.
