Recycling Tips For A Green CNY

Recycling Tips For A Green CNY

Aside from buying new clothes and gifts for the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday, you may also celebrate the festival by recycling or donating unnecessary stuff at home to echo in environmental protection. Check out below the recycling programmes available this year.

Peach Blossom Trees Recycling Programme
The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) will collect peach blossom trees (PBTs) at designated locations after Lunar New Year holiday this year and recycle suitable PBTs collected into recyclable products via Y‧PARK contractor in order to promote recycling of yard waste in the community and reduce yard waste disposal at landfills. Details of the Programme are as follows:

Collection Period: 28 January to 5 February 2023 (total 9 days)
Collection Points: A central collection point (CCP) at Y‧PARK, Tsang Tsui, Tuen Mun and 54 district collection points (DCPs) distributed over the territory. Please refer to the programme website for details.

Community Used Clothes Recycling Bank Scheme
During CNY, you may also donate your old clothes instead of buying new ones. "Community Used Clothes Recycling Bank Scheme" (the Scheme) is a community participation scheme implemented by the Home Affairs Department (HAD). Launched in September 2006 which aims at facilitating the public to donate used clothes in support of environmental protection and charities.

Collection Period: Throughout the year
Collection Points: Please refer to the Location List of "Community Used Clothes Recycling Banks".

Hong Kong Second-hand Exchange (Online Platform)
The Hong Kong Second-hand Exchange is a free community service provided by the EPD. It aims to facilitate the exchange of unwanted but still usable items to help reduce, reuse and recycle waste in Hong Kong.
