Happy Hong Kong - Major Events

Hong Kong has returned to normalcy after more than three years of challenges. Now that our fast and convenient links with the Mainland and the rest of the world have resumed and restaurants, shops and more in the city are reviving, the Government has launched the "Happy Hong Kong" campaign, which features a wide range of fun and interesting activities for citizens to enjoy happy moments together. It will also help stimulate local consumption and boost the economy. Please find below a guide to enjoyment and relaxation with details announced:

Cinema Day 2023 Ticketing Information

On 29 April (Saturday), 61 commercial cinemas in Hong Kong will be celebrating the Cinema Day. Audience can enjoy films of any genre in cinemas at a fixed price of $30 per ticket on the event day.

Tickets will be available from websites and box offices of commercial theatres starting from 11 am of 27 April (Thursday).

Gourmet Marketplaces

A series of Gourmet Marketplaces will be organised by the Home Affairs Department in different parts of the city, showcasing local, Mainland, and international delicacies. The first of the series will be held on 29-30 April at the Exhibition Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

All three Gourmet Marketplaces will have free admission. The first marketplace at HKCEC requires tickets, which will be distributed for free at 18 Districts' Home Affairs Enquiry Centres (Addresses here), starting from 8 am of 26 April (Wednesday).

Details and venues of the Marketplaces:

  • 29.4.2023 - 30.4.2023: Exhibition Hall, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Theme: International delicacies)
  • 6.5.2023 - 7.5.2023: Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza and Sha Tin Park (Theme: Chinese cuisines and local delicacies)
  • 3.6.2023 - 4.6.2023: VESSEL (Kwun Tong) (Theme: Asian cuisines and Wine and Dine)

Other Events

During the summer holidays, the Hong Kong Tourism Board will also host a large-scale sea-land carnival on the Wan Chai promenade, with Victoria Harbour as the grand stage. This Harbour Chill Carnival will feature music concerts with singers and bands from around the world, as well as X Games elements, street performances, and a special edition of "A Symphony of Lights", providing a novel and captivating experience for the public and tourists.

Additionally, a range of agricultural and fisheries festivals are scheduled to take place across multiple districts, including Tsing Yi, Lok Fu, Yuen Long, and Mong Kok.

During the campaign period, various organisations including Cyberport; Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation; the Hong Kong Jockey Club; and the Vocational Training Council; the Ocean Park Corporation; the Hong Kong Disneyland; and the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, will also hold a wide range of events with various types and themes, focusing on pop culture, sports and music, for the public to enjoy.
