Synopsis

The Treasury is responsible for the compilation and supervision of the accounts of and the provision of accounting and financial management services in the Government.  The Treasury recruits two grades of staff, namely, Treasury Accountants (TAs) and Accounting Officers (AOs).  In addition to the Treasury, their parent department, Treasury Grade staff may also work in bureaux/departments through regular postings arranged by the Treasury.  The duties of TAs and AOs are wide-ranging and interesting, covering areas in budgeting, financial accounting, cost and management accounting, system development, internal audit, investigatory accounting, fund/loan management, financial monitoring and management of subvention/funding schemes, etc.

Entry Requirements

Treasury Accountant

Candidates should

  1. be Certified Public Accountants of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, or equivalent;
  2. have at least one year's relevant post-qualification experience;
  3. have a pass result in the Aptitude Test in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE); and
  4. have met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 2’ in the Use of English paper and ‘Level 1’ in the Use of Chinese paper in the CRE, or equivalent; and be able to speak fluent Cantonese and English.

 

Accounting Officer II

Candidates should

  1. either have a Hong Kong degree in Accountancy, or equivalent, or be a registered student of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Qualification Programme (QP) and have completed the Associate Level of QP, or equivalent;
  2. have a pass result in the Aptitude Test in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE); and
  3. have met the language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 2’ in the Use of English paper and ‘Level 1’ in the Use of Chinese paper in the CRE, or equivalent; and be able to speak fluent Cantonese and English.
