Pui Ching Middle School - Lost

Lost

The creative work includes five parts integrating music, light, images and dance to depict the protagonist’s feelings of despair and loss in stress.

In the first part, a graceful flute melody is accompanied by the strings in triple meter depicting the protagonist’s peaceful life. In the second and the third parts, melodies of the clarinet, the flute and the strings are interwoven with each other to express the increase of worries and stress. In the fourth part, fast running notes permeate the various voices and build up the climax of the music depicting the protagonist’s loneliness, confusion and desperation. The piece ends with four-part singing, while the protagonist returns to a peaceful state after feelings of loss.
