On 1 July 2015, the National Security Law of the people's Republic of China was adopted at the 15th Session of the Standing Committee of the 12th National people's Congress, and 15 April each year was designated as the National Security Education Day.The National Security Education Day aims at raising public awareness of national security, creating a positive atmosphere of safeguarding national security, enhancing the capacity to fend off national security risks, deepening public understanding of the Constitution, the Basic Law and national security, and fostering a sense of national identity.2026 marks the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan, and the theme of this year's National Security Education Day is “Proactively Align with the 15th Five-Year Plan Follow a Holistic Approach to Development and Security.”The activities of the 2026 National Security Education Day include National Security Education Day flag raising ceremony, open days of disciplined and auxiliary services, National Security Cup awards presentation ceremony of the disciplined services, opening ceremony of National Security Education Day, seminars, school workshops, etc. Meanwhile, community activities in the 18 districts across the territories and different activities organised by relevant Bureaux and Departments are being held in support of National Security Education Day. Some of the activities are as follows: “National Security Education Day” Opening Ceremony cum SeminarVenue: Grand Hall, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition CentreTime: Live stream by RTHK 32 from 09:30am on 15 AprilOpen Days of Disciplined and Auxiliary Services​To echo the National Security Education Day on April 15, the Security Bureau's 8 disciplined services and auxiliary services will hold open days in such places as their training schools, a museum, headquarters, divisional premises or relevant venue on different weekends from late March to mid-April to deepen the public's understanding of the services as well as their work and achievements in safeguarding national security. Members of the public can register for free admission tickets via the relevant disciplined services' websites. Admission tickets are not required for the open days of the Hong Kong Police Force, the Civil Aid Service and the Auxiliary Medical Service.Members of the public are welcome to visit the websites of the relevant services for more information on the open days, and register to obtain tickets.
