2026 Hong Kong Family and Women Development Summit

2026 Hong Kong Family and Women Development Summit
Shaping Women’s Strengths and Harnessing a Shared Future for Families

Family building and women’s development are dual cornerstones of Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability. The current-term Government has been committed, through a wide range of initiatives, to fostering a caring family culture, while actively promoting the advancement of women in Hong Kong and empowering them to unleash their potential in their respective arenas.

The Chief Executive announced in his 2023 Policy Address the organisation of the Family and Women Development Summit (Summit) to gather insights from various sectors of the community, providing reference for the formulation of relevant policy measures. The inaugural Summit was successfully held on 9 October 2024, attracting over 900 delegates from women’s groups, the business sector and relevant service organisations in Hong Kong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to participate and support.

The year 2025 marked the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action at the Fourth World Conference on Women. In October 2025, our country hosted the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing to discuss ways to promote the global women’s cause. President Xi Jinping pointed out at the Meeting that women play an important role in creating, promoting and carrying forward human civilisation, and the international community has a shared responsibility to advance the cause of women. He proposed for the international community to jointly foster an enabling environment for women’s growth and development, jointly cultivate powerful momentum for the high-quality development of women’s cause, jointly develop governance frameworks to protect women’s rights and interests, and jointly write a new chapter in promoting global cooperation on women.

Building upon the momentum of the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing, the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau will host the second Hong Kong Family and Women Development Summit on 31 March 2026. The second Summit will focus on two main themes: women’s development and family building. It will, on one hand, explore strategies to accelerate women’s holistic development and support them in seizing opportunities in the new era. On the other hand, it will foster a caring and harmonious family‑friendly culture that upholds and passes down positive family core values and virtues, thereby strengthening the family as the foundation of social harmony and sustainable development.
