From 31 October to 1 November 2026, "Fun@Museum Carnival" serving as the inaugural event of "Muse Fest HK 2026" will be held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza.
Under the theme "A Collage of Past and Present, Hong Kong Story" in response to Hong Kong Museum of History 'Hong Kong Story' Exhibition, old Hong Kong elements — such as traditional neighbourhood tea stall, Chinese medicine shop and the "coin-throwing" stall at amusement park will blend into pixelated visual language, bringing a fresh interactive experience.
The carnival features three major themed installations. "A Collage of Past and Present: Grid Tea Stall" recreates the look of a traditional tea stall with multiple sets of tables and chairs, allowing visitors to take a break while reading Hong Kong stories, the nearby "Giant Pixel Egg Tart" is a 1m x 1.5m giant egg tart, on which visitors can place pixel stickers to complete this public artwork together. "Hong Kong Medicine Shop" is set in a traditional Chinese herbal medicine shop, allowing visitors to experience the medicine-gathering process and learn the basic concepts. "Happy Fortune — Fate Blind Box at the Amusement Park" recreates the "coin-throwing" stall of yesteryear, where a coin toss earns a one-of-a-kind "fortune reading".
The "Memory Unboxed" free workshop series covers activities including creative mahjong colouring, pineapple bun clay keychain and herbal tea sign keychain making, fabric-collaged qipao ornament making and pawnshop signboard painting, allowing visitors to relive local touch and memories through creation, alongside experiencing community bonding and cultural heritage.
Performances by Little Museum KOLs, Hong Kong Arts Without Boundaries Foundation — Happy Go Lucky Band, the Music Office's Western Instrumental and Choral Ensembles, 2026 Community Cultural Ambassador — Yao Yueh Chinese Music Association, the Hong Kong Innovation and Technology Performing Arts Education Association and the “Friends of Hong Kong Museum of Art”; Pixiu dance performance by Master Chung Ho-sing of the Hong Kong Lion House Dragon Lion Sports Association is also a major highlight.
Experiential activities include conservation workshop, science knowledge display and workshop, upcycling workshop by reusing mooncake tin boxes, interactive pixiu dance activity and solar observation, mobile library and storytelling programme. "Cultural Playground@Yuen Long – Ping Shan Living Theatre" heritage trail guided tour introduction and registration, as well as film screenings by Hong Kong Film Archive and the Film Programmes Office are also on the progamme line-up.
All activities and workshops are of free admission. Participants who take part in several activities will receive a themed gift. Members of the public are encouraged to come along and enjoy this cultural feast.
