The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) is committed to nurturing talent, encouraging innovation, and being people-centred.In 2021, we assigned the task of rebuilding the pavilion on Lantau Trail Section 3, which was destroyed by Super Typhoon Hato, to three summer interns. Led by the project supervisor, the team brought the concept to life. The pavilion was completed in December 2023 and has garnered praise from hikers. Recently, it was named "Fung Yin Pavilion", symbolising a reborn phoenix soaring freely on the Lantau Peak. From typhoon devastation to the phoenix reborn, this pavilion is more than a shelter – it stands as a testament to creativity and talent cultivation. At CEDD, whether it's a major cross-regional construction project or a modest trail-side pavilion, we put our heart into every project because we believe "Wholehearted effort always leads to best outcome”.Should you wish to tackle the Lantau Trail, one of Hong Kong's Four Trails, don’t forget to look out for this uniquely designed, story-filled pavilion.
