Course summary

Associate of Health Science includes two themes: “Nursing Studies Theme” and “Biomedical Sciences Theme”. Healthcare industry is changing dramatically due to the advancement of medical sciences and technology, the abundance of clinical research and the high demand of consumers. As a key profession of healthcare, these changes represent a significant challenge to the nursing profession and nursing education in terms of maintaining the quality of services and preparing nurses for the future. There is a definite demand for nursing and biomedical sciences professional training over recent years. The Nursing School of universities and the other health caring institutes are keen to collaborate with the “Associate of Health Science” programme. It is believed that the mix of general studies and health science/caring specialism courses would provide students with a systematic way of training and a firm foundation in health sciences.

Entry Requirement

Applicants are required to have obtained Level 2 or above in HKDSE Biology subject or Level 3 or above in Combined Science (Biology); or have taken Biology in HKAS/HKAL; or equivalent. For applicants who wish to join the Biomedical Science Theme, they are required to have obtained Level 2 or above in HKDSE Chemistry subject or Level 3 or above in Combined Science (Chemistry); or have taken Chemistry in HKAS/HKAL; or equivalent.
